Harvest Caye: tourist information

Placencia is a tranquil town of sandy streets, palm trees, and wooden houses with access to the finest beaches in Belize. The villagers earn their living from fishing or tourism, working in hotels or operating sport fishing and diving trips to the magnificent cayes and reefs offshore. Placencia is accessible to Dangriga, which is inhabited by Garifuna people. The Garifuna still live along Belize's southern coast in the picturesque town of Dangriga and nearby villages where they fiercely guard their unusual

African-Caribbean heritage. Garifuna culture aside, Dangriga is the getaway to the southern cayes, popular with fishermen, divers and naturalists, all reachable south of Belize City on the Hummingbird Highway.
